Common refrigerator problems we fix
- Not cooling
- Often a failed evaporator fan, dirty condenser coils, a defrost problem, or a failing compressor or start relay.
- Freezer is cold but the fridge is warm
- Usually frost blocking the air channel between the freezer and fridge, caused by a defrost heater, sensor or control fault.
- Water leaking on the floor
- A clogged defrost drain, cracked water line, or a leaking inlet valve or filter housing.
- Ice building up in the freezer
- A worn door gasket or a defrost-system failure lets frost pile up on the coils.
- Buzzing, clicking or grinding
- Fan motors, compressor relays and ice maker mechanisms are the usual sources.
- Water dispenser or ice maker stopped
- A frozen supply line, failed inlet valve or faulty ice maker module.
- Runs constantly
- Dirty coils, a bad door seal, or a thermostat or temperature sensor fault.
- Door won't seal
- A torn gasket, sagging hinge, or the fridge is out of level.

Try these first
Some refrigerator problems have a simple fix. Before you book, check:
- Check power: make sure it's plugged in and the breaker hasn't tripped.
- Clean the condenser coils (behind the bottom kick plate or on the back) with a coil brush or vacuum.
- Test the door gasket: close a dollar bill in the door. If it slides out easily, the seal is weak.
- Set the fridge to 37°F and the freezer to 0°F, then give it 24 hours to settle.
- Make sure the vents inside aren't blocked by food.

Repair or replace?
Most refrigerators last about 10–15 years. If a repair costs more than half the price of a new one and yours is past about half that lifespan, replacing may be the better value. Otherwise, repair usually wins, and we'll give you an honest recommendation either way.
Refrigerator Repair FAQ
Is it worth repairing my refrigerator?
Usually, yes, if it's under about 10 years old and the problem is a fan, sensor, valve, defrost part or control board. Sealed-system repairs (compressor or refrigerant leaks) on an older fridge can cost more than it's worth. We'll tell you honestly before any work starts.
How long will my food stay safe?
A closed refrigerator keeps food safe for about 4 hours once it stops cooling. A full freezer holds for about 48 hours (24 if half full). Keep the doors shut until we arrive.
Do you repair LG and Samsung refrigerators?
Yes, they're our specialty, including LG compressor and cooling issues and the ice-buildup problems common on Samsung and LG French-door models.
